This style of frame is more architectural looking. The wood is reclaimed from city houses with window casing, chair rail, picture molding and crown molding. It often has layers of paint and isn't quite as wide as bead board. It is usually about 2-2 1/2 inches wide. The man who brings this wood to us brought us a load of glossy black a few years ago. I remarked that i couldn't believe someone had painted their door trim glossy black. He told me it was called "landlord black" because it didn't show dirt and rarely needed repainting. That glossy black is one of our more requested colors now.
